Swarm Summit Objective
First organized by Hive Colab, the inaugural Swarm Summit in 2016 gathered the most innovative startup CEOs, hackers, and tech fans for a deep dive into Uganda’s tech and business scene.
The first Summit set out on a mission to become East Africa’s D Summit or Disrupt, two of Silicon Valley’s top tech-focused confabs. The 2016 summit featured one-on-one interviews, topical panels, and an engaging, networking after-party.
The objective of Swarm Summit is to gather and celebrate Uganda’s top business and technology minds building the enterprises powering Uganda’s emerging digital economy.
Swarm Summit is Uganda’s premier annual stage that fast-growing companies can target as the launch event for new innovations, introduce emerging technology breakthroughs and gain exposure.
Swarm Summit is the stage for important industry announcements.
About Swarm’18
This year, Swarm Summit (Swarm’18) is the third installment in the series, after a successful 2017 summit that saw more than 200 people attend over two days. Once again, the Summit will take over Kampala’s hippest event space at The Square in the Industrial Area on December 7-8, 2018 as we celebrate the tech that defined Uganda’s digital economies in 2018.
We’ll also take a look at what’s in store for the country in 2019 and beyond.
Swarm’18 will feature panels from government Ministries, the telecoms sector, and our startup ecosystem.
This year, we are introducing Pitch Deck, an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to practice and pitch in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win cash and support to grow their startups. Pitch Deck will be accompanied by a panel discussion on the state of startup funding in the country.
After last year’s excellent performance by Maurice Kirya, Swarm’18 will once again feature another one of Uganda’s most prominent female DJs (announcement coming soon) for a post-summit networking concert on Saturday, December 8th.
Over 300 participants are expected to descend on The Square for Swarm’18. Join us for two days of learning, celebration, and entertainment to mark the year that was 2018 in Uganda’s tech ecosystem and to peer into the future with a look at the emerging technologies defining the state of technology 2019 and beyond.
