Ivanka Trump, too, is an entrepreneur and currently an advisor to the president of the United States, Donald Trump. But, a quick scroll through her facebook indicates her commitment to helping fellow Women Entrepreneurs.
The story that Ivanka shared was one of the many stories in the UN Women’s category of “From Where I Stand…” which features stories of various women from all over the world. Officially, Sandra’s story was featured in April 2017 and, at that time, got wide media coverage including the Huffington Post, Leading Ladies Africa etc.
According to Sandra’s story, she started her business with $15 making only soap. However, “with sheer determination and talent, as well as financial resources facilitated by UN Women, she has been able to grow Pelere group into a business now estimated to be worth USD 700,000” as she says. Pelere Group is currently a manufacturer of detergents and cosmetics in Uganda – located in Biira, Wakiso.
Sandra now works with UN Women Uganda helping it to successfully facilitate other youth entrepreneur’s access to financial loans and grants. Read the entire story on the official UN Women Website here.
